What it is is the best deal I've seen on a replacement filter for 2004-2009 Sportsters that have been equipped with the Screamin' Eagle stage 1 air cleaner upgrade. Even though they can be cleaned, the original Screamin' Eagle dry type filters deteriorate after time and require replacement. As I recall, I was quoted somewhere around $50-$60 for the filter from a dealer making this K&N replacement a real bargain. If you're looking for a K&N filter for an '04+ Sportster WITHOUT the Screamin' Eagle upgrade, I'd suggest K&N HD-8834 High Performance Replacement Air Filter.

If in doubt, remove the two allen head bolts securing the filter cover, pull the cover, and visually compare before making a purchase.Would highly recommend it.
