3M Headband for Headgear 3M Airstream PAPR systems are NIOSH approved for respiratory protection against specific airborne contaminants, such as dusts, mists, fumes, radionuclide, asbestos, and hydrogen fluoride.Suggested applications for the 3M Airstream PAPR include mining, chipping, grinding, grain handling, and agriculture. How it works: Ambient air is drawn in through the pre-filter, up the top of the headgear and passes through the filter cartridge. The filtered air then flows down into the face mask and over the user's face and exits at the edge of the face seal. The face seal, head seal and temple seals as well as positive airflow prevent the mixing of filtered air inside the visor with ambient air. Provided that it does not interfere with the face seal, limited facial hair will not adversely affect the level of protection. To ensure a proper fit, check out our Respirator Fit Test Kits. Warning- 3M Airstream PAPR systems are NOT suitable protection for any of the following:

Setting up a Respiratory Protection Program Guidance for establishing a respiratory protection program: 6 Simple Steps. Fit testing is required for mandatory use of all tight-fitting facepieces and recommended for voluntary use. OSHA 1910.134(f) states: “The employer shall ensure that an employee using a tight-fitting facepiece respirator is fit tested prior to initial use of the respirator, whenever a different respirator facepiece (size, style, model or make) is used, and at least annually thereafter.” Medical evaluation of the employee is required for mandatory use of all respirators or voluntary use of reusable or disposable respirators. 3M Online Respirator Evaluation can be used with all brands and types of respirators. The easy-to-use questionnaire helps establish the worker’s clearance level for using a specific respirator in your work conditions.
