This is the third humidifier I have purchased in the past few years and it is so far the best one for the price. On the high setting it is slightly noisy but on the lower settings it is fine and works like white noise, eliminates any other noise. There was a slight vibration between the water tank and the main housing, so I just used a large heavy duty elastic band to hold them both together and this totally eliminated any small vibration. It uses the entire take of water almost every night running on the lowest setting. I am just having problems finding the filters for this produdt at the WalMart stores. I may have to order them on line.

I thought the filter was cleanable but when I tried to clean it, it fell apart -- so it will need new filters periodically. I ran mine for a full month non-stop when I got it before the filter needed replacing and then discovered that it will not work without a filter (just a fan spinning at that point). [The filter soaks up the water, the fan pulls air (and water) through the filter and into the room.] The fan could be considered "loud" but the white-noise effect of it drowns out my neighbors (and my husband's snoring!) so I find that I actually sleep better with it on. Finding the replacement filters did prove to be difficult and once Walmart did start carrying them, they were different.

They come with a blue stripe that turns red when it's time to change the filter. Turns out, the stripe is nothing more than a timer. It turns hard and stops the water from wicking up. You can find filters online for under $10. Sometimes you'll have to cut down the height to fit but it's no big deal. If you carefully soak and wash them, you should easily get 2 months out of them. After 3 years, the sensor for the filter check gets clogged with dust and won't work properly or at all but it's not needed since it's pretty easy to see that if you fill it and it's empty 24 hours later, the water must be going somewhere.
