It’s not that ME/CFS and FM are sleep disorders per se, and that fixing the sleep problems found will cure either, but of all the “loads” that contribute to the distress in these disorders – poor sleep, when its present – may be the heaviest. I am currently turning my settlements into self-sufficient fortresses, of which I am about halfway through. First of all, either make your character have 10 Charisma to begin with or use every perk point until you make it 10 first, with this you can convince anyone, anything. Despite what you might hear, the Minuteman quests are very good to grind things with. They give a decent amount of XP, and while they are ridiculously stupid and repetitive with a very small pool of radiant places, it is worth it to level up your character early on.
It is also a good way to get resources. Second, speaking of resources, BUY EVERYTHING that has wood. Wood, while at first is plentiful, is used in over 75% of all settlement items, and in fairly large amounts. If you comb through locations and scrap everything, you will only have to worry about wood. However if you don't want to make an empire of absolute fortresses, the trees in the settlements should suffice. The difficulty is really how often you want legendaries. They only change how many hits it takes to kill an enemy, usually give or take two more. The real 'easy mode' is power armor. I can waltz through Mythic Deathclaws and Super Mutant Warlords without a scratch in my X-01 on Survival, but if I was to step out, I would probably get rekt. If you plan on getting all the perks you want, start out with 10 intelligence and level up your perception to 6 and luck to 5 for Idiot Savant and Friend of the Night. With 10 INT Idiot Savant will rarely happen, but the x3 Kill XP is worth it.
Secondly, the Friend of Night, in addition to having a hilarious icon, is very much worth it for the extra XP at night with synergizes very well with an Astoundingly Awesome! perk, +5% Damage at night, located in Outpost Zimonja. Also, if you're big on Power Armor, get the Internal Database mod as soon as possible. Lastly, go to Goodneighbor as early as possible to get a quest from Daisy which grants access to the Boston Public Library and in turn the Intelligence Bobblehead and a copy of the Massachusetts Surgical Journal, and in Hotel Rexford is a Live and Love which grants a +5% XP bonus when adventuring with a companion. Over all, this grants a +53% XP bonus at night in certain power armor while adventuring with a companion. As another small bonus, having 10 INT from the start unlocks a very useful perk early on: Nerd Rage, which is basically an on-demand supply of Pyscho jet. Some more perk info: Rank 3 of Life Giver is very powerful, usually restoring you to full health after a skirmish.
Get Bloody Mess and whatever damage perk you need(Rifleman, Gunslinger, Commando, Heavy Gunner, Big Leagues, etc) as early as possible, as they will give you an edge you might need in a battle. Lead belly is also very good for early game, as the food is like a much more common but diluted version of a stimpak. Look at this map In the blue areas, you cannot find Fusion Cores in random loot. Speaking of loot, let's go onto legendary loot. A lot of legendaries you'll find will be good only to sell, but a few are very good. The explosive, two shot, bleeding, and mighty prefixes are what you want to look for. Two shot is good on rifles, I have a two-shot combat rifle i found at Level 20 and still use it over a hundred levels later. Explosive is good on both Non-automatic and automatic rifles, especially miniguns or combat shotguns. Bleeding is insanely OP on automatic weapons, and Mighty is good for everything, but particularly on plasma weapons. Lastly, if you're a melee character, the furious prefix is best.
