Old rubber belts tend to disintegrate after a number of years and may get very sticky.

Old belt material must be removed and the pulleys thoroughly cleaned.Scrape off really stuck, dried belt material with a scalpel knife blade, then use cotton buds (non-plastic types), moistened with acetone, to help remove any residue so you end up with a clean pulley. If sticky residue is not fully removed, the new belt my stick to the pulleys and prevent the mechanism turning properly. Fitting instruction is available for some models that require more than usual dismantling. We offer service to many popular projector brands:Eumig, Bolex, Copal, Elmo, Fujiscope, Sankyo, Titan and Yelco and others. These brands can usually be restored to provide several more years of service. Our service includes general clean-up and lubrication. Old belts replaced and the film gate assembly is checked, cleaned and lubricated. The lamp socket checked and cleaned and a new lamp fitted if required. Finally we test the projector with film. Service cost depends on projector type but is usually in the range $165 to $220 plus parts and freight costs. Before sending a projector for service, you should make sure it is a serviceable model, by contacting us first.
