How did you hear about us?* Gary Sullivan Radio Show The Money Pit Radio Any other details you'd like to share?Due to untruthful marketing and a cheap price tag, the ionic air cleaner became enormously popular during the 1990s and the early part of the new millennium. Thanks to a couple of high-profile lawsuits that exposed the truth about ionic air cleaners, people stopped buying them. As it turns out, the ionic air cleaner actually pollutes the air.
In 2002, Consumer Reports tested the Sharper Image Ionic Breeze Quadra air cleaner alongside several other air purifiers. Sharper Image was unhappy with the published results, so they suedConsumer Reports. Consumer Reports won the case because their test methods were deemed scientifically valid. In 2004, Consumer Reports told the world that the Ionic Breeze could be dangerous to consumers' health because it emits ozone, a lung irritant that can damage the respiratory system. Sales of the ionic air cleaner plummeted. Sharper Image changed the design of the ionic air cleaner to include an "OzoneGuard" grill attachment, but it was too late. Most consumers were already aware of the great air cleaner scam, and Consumer Reports found that the OzoneGuard didn't work very well, either. The add-on component captured only about 75% of ozone emitted by the unit. In 2007, Sharper Image settled a huge lawsuit by paying out $60 million in consumer merchandise credits. The class-action lawsuit alleged that the specialty retailer misled customers about the effectiveness of its ionic air cleaner.
Other ionic air cleaners that emit ozone include Ecoquest and Oreck air cleaners. As a rule of thumb, if a manufacturer describes their product as an "ionic" air cleaner, the air cleaner most likely emits ozone. People with asthma should avoid ozone as it can trigger an asthma attack and respiratory damage. Unfortunately, many people with asthma have fallen for the ionic air cleaner claims since they are especially concerned about indoor air quality.allergy pro professional air purifier envion Most doctors and allergists recommend HEPA air purifiers for allergy and asthma sufferers. winix wac5500 true hepa air cleaner reviewsHEPA air purifiers do not emit any chemical by-products. brookstone pure-ion uv air purifier

No maintenance, no nasty buckets to empty, no filters to change, simply set it and forget it! Improves air quality by creating air exchanges Reduces mold and mildew The average home’s foundation absorbs 10-15 gallons of water vapor DAILY? This absorption through your home’s foundation accounts for 80% of your indoor airborne moisture. The EZ Breathe Ventilation System not only reduces the airborne moisture, but it also reduces indoor air pollution, expels odors, mold spores and contaminated air from your home.
By exchanging this stale air for fresh air, the atmosphere within the home becomes healthier and safer. Removing this excess moisture also helps prevent damage to your home’s structure and personal belongings. Why use costly energy (in the form of electricity) to condense this water vapor into liquid form like traditional dehumidification products do? Simply remove this moisture from your home for pennies a day! It's hard to believe that an air cleaner would actually pollute the air, but some of the most popular models do just that. The EcoQuest air cleaner, for instance, is supported by outlandish marketing claims such as "Fresh Air by EcoQuest is the safest, most sought after air purifier in the world." But this air cleaner is not safe, especially for people with allergies or asthma. EcoQuest air cleaners emit large amounts of ozone, a lung irritant that can trigger asthma attacks. In fact, if you look in the instruction manual, you'll see that it warns users to make sure that the room is unoccupied before "sanitizing" with ozone. The manual also suggests airing out the room before going back into it. Why, then, is this ionic air cleaner so popular? It's because of deceptive marketing claims made as part of a pyramid scheme. People continue to fall for the scam, but once they start using the air cleaner at home, they realize they've been had. After running the unit for 2 days, my son was having to use his inhaler, and my daughter had to use her inhaler after 3 days.
They were both having the early symptoms of an asthma attack. By the third day, I also had some chest pain, and I don't have respiratory problems. My son could not quit coughing after we had the machine in our house for 3 days. When we were out of the house, he was fine. I don't know which is worse, my kids having asthma attacks because of secondhand smoke or my kids having asthma attacks because of the (Ecoquest) Fresh Air."But that's not all. Other popular air cleaners are just as bad. Sharper Image, currently in bankruptcy, settled a class-action lawsuit in 2007 for $60 million after they misled customers about the effectiveness of their Ionic Breeze air cleaner. The Ionic Breeze also emits ozone and is not recommended for allergy sufferers. And then there's the Oreck XL air cleaner from the infomercials. , one consumer writes: I purchased two of the Oreck XL Professional Air Purifiers after the TV ad. I made the mistake of trusting David Oreck and his ad I'm trying to get a refund and trying to get them to stop taking money out of my bank account.
