You simply purchase a 14 x 24 X 1 allergen grade home air filter (pictured), and cut it down to fit the unit.

This makes about 3 to 4 filters that work just as well and possibly better if you get really high quality filters. I attached a couple pictures, one shows the type of filter and the other is a cut down filter after three months of use (it used to be pure white). The home filter cost me $20, and after cutting it up into 3 pieces each filter for the guardian really only cost me around $7. I attached a link to the Filtrete brand filter which is $32 for a 2 pack which is even cheaper than the Honeywell one I got from Home Depot. On December 19, 2015 I took the unit out of service and cleaned it in accordance with user manual. When I put it back into service, the UV light would not come on. Thinking I could have damage bulb by banging it while hot, I ordered a replacement bulb. On about December 27th, I received the bulb and replace the one in the unit. On placing the unit back in operation, the UV light would still not come on. On December 30th I called Guardian Technologies customer service. Although still under warranty, they advised me that at my own expense I could purchase packaging material and pay to ship the unit back to them (also asked me to insure it at my expense) and they would have a technician look at the unit.

Let’s recap, unit broke in 3 months and I was to spend my own money to send it back to Guardian Technologies under warranty. I have to say that this air purifier has helped some in the mold and pollen times of the year as well as other allergens that I have. I do keep a very clean bedroom, vacuum, and dusted everyday, mattress sealed, anyone with bad allergies know the rules of keeping your sleeping area meticulous clean and dust free. The problem with this air purifier is the cost of maintenance I have to replace the filter at least every two months at 30 to 45 dollars pop. running this on high speed is way to loud to sleep by, however on level 1 or 2 is okay. The blue UV light is too bright to use at night, so I have to turn that off at night. and I have only had the unit 6 months and have already had to replace the uv bulb once. I just don't feel that the benefits of this unit do not out way the cost of keeping it up.

Yes my headaches are a little less, my sore throats, and stuffy nose are a little less, but not enough to say wow what a wonderful product.
