They were all right! I've plugged it in the bathroom bottom outlet, so there's room for a nightlight in the top of the double outlet. (I was concerned about whether that would be the case, and there is adequate room for a night light to be plugged in over the unit.) I've also read reviews that the unit works just as effectively without the scented cartridge and I may try that when the cartridge in the unit runs out. Do be careful not to leave it running for hours on end unless absolutely necessary. It does the job of eliminating the odor of my cat's litter box and the odor from the adjoining apt of my neighbor's second hand smoke very quickly. I turn mine on three or four times a day, but only for about 15 minutes each time to conserve the scented cartridge..

I have used plug ins, air and fabric sprays, candles you name it, to try and get rid of the odor. I bought 2 of these, thinking that it would take 2 in my living room, but one works great!
