I've re-read it 3 times now even though I rarely reread books. Majestic, enticing, musical, with a life of its own. Quite a complicated book. Beautifully and cleverly written. But not for a regular reader who is more interested in a fast developing plot, witty dialogues. Best book I ever read Grest Story, teading it again many years later! The set up to this novel is beautiful in that you know from the start of some of the tragedies that are to befall the family but not so much that the rest of the story comes in any... This is a "love it or hate it" book. I think it's astounding. Wonderful tone, beautiful descriptions, fascinating characters, metaphors and similes so strange and... If this wasn't a wonderfully-written novel by Arundhati Roy I wouldn't have finished it.
I love her writing, politics, and her. Roy, so cleverly intertwines past,present and the future ...a master at cultivating lives of the characters and drawing you into love, childhood and tragedy ...
