Maybe this is just one isolated incident, but definitely scare me away from it. Absolutley the best air purifier! Hands-down the absolute best air cleaner I have ever owned. I live in an industrial city with quite dirty air. So bad in fact it settles on everything outside and leaves soot. I have to regularly wash the car and the brick/siding on my house because of it. I also replace my furnace filters every month because they are filthy. Since buying 2 of these to cover both levels of my 1100sqft house I have been able to change my furnace filters every 90 days. The air doesn't just smell fresher but I have also noticed my allergies are nowhere near as bad. These units are well built. The replacement filters and U.V. bulb are a decent price. You won't be sorry. I'm so glad I bought these units and what I'm saving on furnace filters will more than pay for the filters for this unit. A good product for a great price. I got this air purifier about a week and a half ago, and it's been on continuously since then. the air in the entire bottom floor of my house (less than 400 sq.ft.) is noticeably cleaner, and the purifier is almost silent. It also takes up very little space and is easy to use. I'd taken the filters out to check if it needed to be cleaned (it didn't) and when I put it back together it was slightly more noisy, but still not noticeable unless you listen for it. This also was probably due to an error on my part, not the machine itself. I would automatically recommend this to anyone looking for an air purifier. quite, efficient, fast, compact, easy to operate and move around. I'm very happy with the purchase of this model. It's power is enough for my small apartment. The only thing that discomforts me is how to clean it and change the filters, but I'll think about that when time comes - in a year.
