Bought this Air Purifier with this Total filter in it just to shut the wife up about her allergies are because of the Dog. I didnt think it would work and what do you know. Best smelly air I've had in my apartment ever. This thing does do it job even if its soo little. Then again I only used this on an 800sq apartment. But it works very well. Little issue I did notice was that it started to smell like it was burning or a weird smell. I'm sure I might of needed to replace the filter, but still a bad smell. The white finish on my purifier collects too much dust around it and it looks dirty and is very hard to keep clean. The filters are a bit costly to where it makes me feel like its all just marketing.

But its still worth it since they do the job. Over all I recommend this to people with breathing issues 100%. Again I don't know about 800sq+ homes. I also noticed a it gets rid of dust accumulation in my bedroom. Makes for easy dusting! The only problem is that the filters cost sooo much! These are getting tough to find locally -- it used to be I could walk into Sears and walk out with a box, but now they're only interested in selling me the more expensive "type B" HEPA filters that these carbon filters fit over.There are four of these per box, yet only three are needed per change in our Holmes HAP 650 purifier. The purifier is in use in a converted basement bedroom in the house -- it has a moisture control problem, we have the diaper changing table in there, and we own dogs. The evidence is clear every time we change these filters. Not only is there a lot of dust, dander, pet hair and whatever collected in these, but the smell of the room becomes noticeably improved every filter change.The main function of these filters is to keep the more expensive HEPA filter beneath Holmes HAPF600D from getting clogged. They can be rinsed out under the faucet, by the way, if you don't mind the hassle of the cleaning and the drying. For us, changing these charcoal pre-filters out ever 3-4 months gives us about a years worth of use on the HEPA filters behind them.
