Make sure your home is prepared for the colder months ahead by getting a tune-up on your furnace. Let Burton & Sons keep you comfortable through every season! A little prevention costs a whole lot less than a major repair. It's true in many areas of our life, and plumbing is no different. Regular attention can prevent most breakdowns with water heaters, toilets and faucets. Heating bills across the country are the highest they have ever been, without any relief in sight. Even if your older furnace runs, from an economic standpoint it would be wise to replace it. With proper furnace selection, your central air conditioning bills can be lower too. Buying a bigger AC unit won't necessarily make you feel more comfortable during the hot summer months.
A room air conditioner that's too big for the area it is supposed to cool may be less efficient and less effective than a smaller, properly sized unit. Why call Burton and Sons? Space Heat& Combi Boiler Space Heat and Combi Condensing Boiler Gas-fired, wall hung modulating condensing boilerRead more about Utica Boilers Overview of the MGB The Utica MGB boiler series is a discontinued gas-burning water boiler offering fuel efficiencies up to 84.1 percent. With easily accessible components and a compact design, the MGB was promoted by the manufacturer for its easy installation and service. The unit came factory-assembled, wired, tested and ready to be installed in a new or existing home. This series featured a cast iron heat exchanger, an optional "on-demand" ignition control and an automatic vent damper designed to provide better heat retention and more efficient heating. Corrosion-resistant stainless steel burners and an integrated flue collector and draft hood were also features of this unit. With its atmospheric burners, the unit allowed for natural draft chimney venting.
Consumer Reviews of the Utica MGB #2  of 4 Utica Boilers I had my Utica MGB100 for 21 years and never had any problems with itThe problem now is the parts are worn. It's time for a new one, it was great boiler. Good job Utica, thank you. Name: Utica owes me compensation Bought 3 of these POS. No help from Spewitca, orYou have to replace the entire pilot and ignition system toOver 12 hours of lost labor, inAnd the best part......Do your homework everybody before getting screwed by Came home and found water on the floor. Boiler leaking from the heat exchanger. The pressure relief valve did not blow. Called the supply house, they will not sell the part. $1400.00 for new block. Might as well buy a new boiler. Previous boiler was 30 + years old. This one lasted 17 years. "My boiler leaks and it's only been installed for 2 days" I just bought a boiler. It's been in for 2 days and I can tell that it has aThe unit is leaking on the burner.
I do about that? I'm a contractor, and what do I tell my customer, that the brand new heater I just installed in her home is leaking? needs this kind of worry? Damn, I thought this was to good to be true. wont buy any more of their shit. 10/25/2014, it's 2 days old. Location: Jersey City, NJ I've had this boiler for over 16 years, and it's still going strong. was installed correctly and I am very happy that I have it. had any trouble with it, or had any maintenance on it or needed any. I installed this thing two years ago and couldn't be happier. talked me into this vs the high efficiency models. Trade off is about 5 to 10 points less efficient but a lot less headaches. As he said 10 things have to go right for those high efficiency models to even ignite and you need a $300 service call every year. This replaced another cast iron boiler that was probably 40 years old. The efficiency gains were more than noticeable. Only problem I had was the electric damper closing device.
Had to replace it after a year but it was simple and free. I love this boiler and sleep well at night. It was very reasonable, professionally installed in under a day and at least 33% more efficient than what I had. I can see it in my gas bill. Location: Lehigh Valley, PA In five years I have had to replace the Gas Valve Mechanical as of today five times. The system was installed the end of 2006. They sent me one new pump, but that went bad in one year. I sent it back to Utica today, with my feelings in writing. I hold "0" hope for their forwarding $375.00 to repair my gas fired boiler. This furnace has four igniters replaced, also. "Replacing a 20 year old Utica boiler" I'm in the process of replacing a Utica boiler I had installed in our home 20 years ago. The current unit is working fine, but this is our retirement home and I plan on living in it for another 10 to 20 years and don't want to deal with a boiler that fails on its schedule instead of mine. We will replace it when it's nice and warm out and not during the winter in an emergency situation.
A friend of mine who is a plumber tells me most boiler failures are due to faulty installation, and properly installed, hot water boilers are pretty free of trouble. That has been the case with our Utica boiler. The manufacturer date on my mgb1502h Utica Gas Boiler is dated 1987. brought my home three years ago and have had no problems with thisThe last significant notes written on the boiler is dated 2/1994 regarding cleaning of pilot. All other notes refers to purging theJust before winter last year I took out the burners and clearI am thinking that due to age I may have to replace it with a high efficient model and I am looking to another Utica Boilers. Homeowners and contractors around the web don't seem very happy with the Utica MGB. note several issues with the construction of the unit. Certain elements of the MGB, such as lack of insulation around the boiler, frequent burn out from damper motor, counterintuitive system operation, and a difficult-to-repair heat exchanger, make this model a less than favorable choice, according to these contractors.
