Very happy with this purchase. I still wish I had more of the ionic pro from 5 years ago, as it is a filter I clean myself, no sound, close to no fan, and that ion freshness smell. I live in an apartment complex and it seems like all the smokers live around me. This product has helped me tremendously. I run it 24/7. If I leave the apartment I turn it down to the "sleep" mode, but otherwise it stays on the "allergen" or "general clean" mode. I know some people complain about the sound some of these may make, but this product has the "quiet" operation. Of course, when you use a higher setting you are getting a more powerful use of the machine and some may vibrate a louder sound. For me, that is great at night so I do not have the listen to my neighbors. If the high setting sound hinders your tv time, turn your machine to "sleep" mode and then afterward back to your regular setting.

This product has earned the ENERGY STAR stamp of approval, and has really helped with my allergies. I love the fact it is a tower and does not take up too much room, that it is a quiet clean, and that it has has washable filters. I did use small clip fans at each window to pull the smoke out of the room, but decided to use something in the room & not open the windows. My neighbor was using one of these. I noticed when I entered her apartment I never smelled smoke. I bought this & it works great! I can use it in the hall, my bedroom & the living room/kitchen area. It did have a bit of an smell the first few days, but after that it went away. I have closed my place up & left for several hours & when I came home there was no smoke smell in the apartment. I also use a fabric softer sheet across the back where the air is pulled in & it makes a nice sent in the whole apartment.

The odor from the cigarettes travels through the ventilation and has been awful to live with causing eye irritation, coughing and making our clothing and all around us smell of cigarettes. We purchased this air purifier to eliminate the odors. Until that point, we had been using air eliminating sprays, air freshners without much success. Our apartment is approx. 800 sq ft with open living space and 1 bedroom. As a last resort we made this purchase having researched many models at a "reasonable" price point since we do not anticipate needing this beyond this apartment, but needing something that would hopefully cover as much of our apartment space as possible. We keep it in our living space during the day and move it to the bedroom at night.
