Where is my F50F Model Number Order parts based on your model number. The F50 model number is located on the inside of the door. Otherwise order parts based on the overall size of your cells. The F50F came in 5 sizes. The smallest model has on cell 121/2x20. The two cell models are 16"x20", 16"x25", 20"x20", 20"x25". If your air cleaner was manufactured by a diferent company and looks like ouu photos, then it is a honeywell air cleaner. Honeywell also had an earlier F50E that was similiar. The most noticable difference between the F50F and the earlier F50E is the size of the powerbox. The F50F power box runs the full lenght from front to back. The F50E power box is half the lenght. The F300 is identical to the F50F but with different paint color. Honeywell F50F Service Manuals & Brochures
F50F Product Data 1998 F50F Product Data 1994 Simple Power Supply Test Procedure The neon indicator light is not coming on The cells never spark Unplug the power box cord and operate a drop-light in the 3-prong receptacle verifying an acceptable voltage and current. A shorted cell can prevent the indicator light from coming on. Remove both cells, with door back in place operate without cells. If the unit now appears OK with indicator light ON, then the cells have a problem. Replace or Repair Power Box. If the power box is plugged in to 120v and the Neon indicator still does not light without the cells, then the problem is in the power box. Check the on/off switch, interlock door switch and wiring. Bypass the Air Flow Switch (AFS), The AFS is a sensor that signals the power supply when air flow is present. Disabling the AFS will simulate the ON state. Using a jumper wire, ground AFS resistor to the chassis, see AFS Tech Notes. Replace Air Flow Switch, if the Neon indicator lights and unit appears to work with the AFS disabled.
Replace Power Supply, if the Neon indicator does not light with the AFS disabled and no cells to short the output.rochester 2gc air cleaner adapter Neon problem, is not likely if test button does not spark. spy hydronium air purifier cameraThe neon lamp voltage should measure 125 vdc.oransi® finn air purifier F50F to F300A Quick Parts Swap You need to replace your F50F1065 power box and would like a spare pair of cells. F50F Series Part Number List Power SupplySeries 1 & 2 Air flow SensorSeries 1 & 2 Choosing the replacement power box may be dependent on the series. If you do NOT have the optional wall mounted Remote Performance indicator (W8600F), the series does not matter. If you are replacing a power box of any series and do NOT have W8600, we recommend choosing the Series 2 Power box.The series 2 was manufactured from 98 throught 06. The Series 1 power box comes with a 4 connector would be used for the optional W8600E.The terminal strip would be included with the optional W8600F. The F50F Series 2 power box is the same used in the current F300. The Honeywell warranty for F50 Replacement Parts is 2 years from the date of purchase. Our customers simply need to ship us the defective part. Limited 2 Year Warranty The following diagram displays parts specific for the model F50F1040 and F50F1057. You need to replace your F50F1040 power box and would like a spare pair of cells.
For the best value consider buying a new F300A2012. All the Parts from a new F300A are fully interchangable with any prior F50F of the same size. This section contains several Air Cleaner Replacement Parts. Honeywell have replaced this power box with a new part named the PS1202B12J. Visit the replacement product page. Complete power box assembly for 16x25, 20x20, 20x25 120v dual cell F50A F50E F58E. This power box includes the W8600E terminal strip and air flow sensor. Honeywell 2 year warranty. The overall size of the box is 10 x 6¼ x 3½ inches. The box is galvanized and the cover painted. Ionizer current must be set by jumper for 1.65mA or 2.1mA. See Setting Ionizer Current below. Power box is completely assembled and simply mounts with two screws. Replaces 208421C, 202228A, 202228B, 200583A, 200583B. The 208420A is used in the highlighted 120v models: The 208420 Compatible with the W8600 The 208420A power box provides the terminal strip for the optional W8600E remote indicator.
The 120v 208420A replaces any dual cell F50A or F50E power box with or without the terminal strip as shown in photo below. If your power box does not have a terminal strip or has an unused terminal strip, then you can use the 208420A and simply leave the terminal strip unconnected. Otherwise a W8600E would connect with a 4 conductor thermostat wire whereas a W8600F would use a 3 conductor wire. The 208420A can also be used with the newer W8600F by replacing the internal daughter card, wiring harness and terminal strip with that included with the W8600F. Photo shows power box with and without the terminal strip. 208420 Air Flow Sensor Compatible The 208420A has a built-in air flow sensor. The air flow sensor detects air flow by sensing a vacuum (differential pressure drop). This power box will wait until air flow is sensed and then turn on. This power box can be used in an F50A-E that is wired to a full-time 120 volts or used when 120v power is only supplied when the furnace blower is running.
Some earlier F50A, F50E power boxes did not have the air flow sensor. The 208420A replaces power boxes with or without the air flow sensor. If your prior power box does not have the air flow sensor, then the 208420A built-in sensor will simply be redundant. The animated photo below shows a power box with and without the air flow sensor. 208420 Air Flow Sensor Nozzle Retrofit The 208420A replaces power boxes with and without the air flow sensor. In 2004 Honeywell discontinued the power box without the AFS (208421C) to consolidate inventory. The air flow sensor feature was introduced 1991. The F50A and F50E prior to 1991 did not have the AFS and do not have the hole for the nozzle. The AFS senses the vacuum of the return duct and signals the power supply to turn on. If replacing a power box without the AFS, then check that your frame has the hole for the nozzle. Without the hole the 208420A will not sense the vacuum and turn on. 208420 Air Flow Sensor Disable
The procedure to permantly enable the power box so that it powers up without air flow is shown in the animated photo below. Perform these 2 steps: Cut the resitor jumper J8 Disconnect the plug at J3 Setting Ionizer Current Jumper J6 The 208420A can be configured for four sizes: 12½x20, 16x25, 20x20, 20x25. A jumper on the power supply board needs to be set based on the overall size of your collector cells. This jumper J6 sets the ionizer current. First visually inspect the board. Most problems are visible such as a melted transformer winding or a burnt component such as the surge suppressors RV1 RV2. Check the thin white ceramic resistor R3, the corner wire can break away. This can cause the collector plates to get power but not the ionizer wires. Continuous cell sparking (for months) can burn out components or wiring. Resonant sparking causes elevated voltage swings that can break down the insulation on the high voltage wires. Often the fuse blows when the switching FET Q1 shorts, we believe from line spikes.
Check the fuse continuity. A blown fuse typically reads 4.4M ohm because of circuitry in parallel. The fuse is soldered in and not replaceable. If there is an internal short the fuse blows so to prevent any components from flaring up. Replacing a blown fuse will not fix the problem. Honeywell does not release the circuit board schematics. Service tech's want to replace the complete board and be confident. Honeywell does not sell the discrete components. We do not do component level repair of the boards. Replacing the complete board with a new one with a 2 year Honeywell warranty would be the most reliable repair. Here is our procedure to test the 208420A power box. Bypass the air flow sensor to force the power supply ON by grounding the jumper resistor J8, see photo and pdf below. Connect 240 vac to the 2-prong connector at the back of the power box. Terminal P2 will be 4.2k vdc Terminal P5 for the neon lamp outputs 100 vdcBy tapping P3 to ground you should be able to draw an arc 1/32".
