I had seen some Honeywells that look similar in retail stores that said "permanent" filtration. I read those boxes. The filters were washable. I didn't look the model number up on the Honeywell site, because I trusted that it was a "permanent" HEPA filter.

I'm not sure what the permanent in the title refers to, but these are normal, replaceable HEPA filters (the manual recommends replacing every 6 months). This air purifier does great! I could immediately tell that a certain sent was gone. I hadnt noticed when the sent before but I could tell it was gone after running it a few short hours. The sound on Medium is a soft hum which also helps to put me to sleep. My only complaint is the green light on the top of the purifier but it covers well with a black sock so the light doesnt bother me. I will occasionally hall this air purifier out to my kitchen if there was burnt food, It will clear out the smell in no time. There is a noticeable difference in the air quality. I have had this purifier for over 5 years now and it's still going strong. I didn't change the hepa filters until recently, probably should have done it much sooner, because once... It is quiet enough to not notice (unless you try to listen for it). I have had this running 24/7 since I purchased about 2-3 months ago. Great air cleaner easy to use easy to clean. Works better than i expected. Filters fine, Wish it was not so noisy. Low setting is tolerable, but even that is noticeable. They need to employ quieter fans and or motors like some of the newer desktop... My smaller air purifier stopped working so I decided to upgrade, best decision ever!!! I haven't had any issues with it!! Loved it for the first 3 1/2 weeks. Easy to set up. It was very quiet on low.
