Age 18-24 25-34 35-44 45-54 55-64 65 and older Gender Male Female This by far best air filter I've ever used i alot of them as i have asthma I've tried the small desktop one's which not good I've tried the electric grid one's they don't work at all. Was just using a Oreck small which seemed work ok but they stop making them can't get filter anymore plus after some time even after changing filter not so sure how good it really was all those other filter were just hey it's on the shelf at the store it looks good. I not doing that anymore now everything i buy is researched heavily from reviews and websites and even you tube yes check out you tube videos on this filter. before you buy anything learn as much as you can about it. I'm running the filter in a bedroom. love that it take in air from a full 360 and not just side's on filter like the old oreck did. setup from opening the box to running even after looks at how to install only took 5-10 min's very easy. It says to run at high for first 5mins but best run at high in closed room for atleast a hour.
Even on low setting i think my computer make's more noise so it's not very loud on low but still seems to moving a good amount of air. It's not as quiet as more expensive machines, but it's a wonderful value because it does the job. Yes (2) No (0)  Report Yes (2) No (0) Verified purchaser Verified purchaser We purchased the Honeywell True HEPA Air Purifier 50250-S, which we ran in the living room/dining room area during the day and moved it into the bedroom at night.
It is quite loud for a bedroom, even on a low setting and there still seemed to be dust in the house. We bought the 17000S for the bedroom and left the 50250S in the downstairs area. We run both 24/7 and the dust problem seems to be solved. The 17000S is much quieter, even on the high setting. We run it on medium at night and on high during the day. This two purifier combination works well for us. Yes () No ()  Report Yes () No () Verified purchaser I bought this because I live in a very old home and the upstairs, where I sleep, get's extremely dusty, and during an allergy season over a year ago, I began waking with swollen eyelids on a daily basis. I found this on the site and the reviews were good, so I gave it a shot. First of all, when I change the carbon filter (about every month - month and a half), it is covered in a very thick amount of dust. So i know it works. It has helped considerably with my eyes, but I still wake up every now and then with swollen lids, it just doesn't happen as often as it did before.
So overall I'm happy with it, I just think I need a larger model for my space. Yes (5) No (1)  Report Yes (5) No (1) I have owned two of these for years. This one is a gift for my grown son who has allergies. What I like best about it is that the main filter can be vacuumed and the pre-filter can be washed (or replaced cheaply). Most filters cost almost as much as the unit. I don't wake up to a stuffed up nose every morning now. It is relatively quiet on low but pretty loud on high. I keep it on high for about a half hour in the room I want to use it in then I switch it to low. I use it in my living room in the daytime and bedroom at night. Yes () No (0)  Report Yes () No (0) Verified purchaser I spent many hours looking at info on different air purifiers. Because of the design and the reviews I read, I chose this one.I have it in the room that is home for the cat's litter box. We have 3 cats. This room is also a home office. Sounds strange, but it was the only option...bathroom too small...it would be too messy. If you have cats you know that litter produces a lot of dust and odor. I have always cleaned the litter twice a day... which helped with odor problems but there was a big problem with dust. Electronic devices such as a computer and peripheral devices are dust magnets. Since we started using this air purifier, there is little dust and the room seldom has any odor.
I run this thing on high 24/7 in a room that is about 9x11 feet. Not very noisy...just sounds like a fan...One of the Most Practical Compact Air Cleaners You Will Find Throughout what seems like months of research (well, it probably is actually) I’ve done on air purifiers, the one thing I’ve learned is it’s really important we all think about the quality of the air we breathe in our homes. I do however, have some good news/bad news – there are tons of models to choose from! For instance, there are many air purifiers which offer varying degrees of filtration. This could be 3 or 4-Stage filtering, ionizers or UV light filtering. But, as you might have expected they cost a lot of money. If you don’t need all that extra protection and rigorous filtering, you might be better off buying a cheaper purifier. Since the Honeywell Long-Life Pure HEPA QuietCare fits the description perfectly, I decided to take a closer look. Honeywell is one of the best known brands of air purifiers, and they have some great products which is why I have chosen to review this particular model.
The Honeywell QuietCare 17000 is suitable for rooms up to 168 square feet in size, and the unit’s dimensions are 15.8 x 13.1 x 17.1 inches. It also weighs just 13lbs so it can be termed as a portable purifier plus, it has a practical handle on the top. It uses a True HEPA filter to collect harmful airborne particles along with a pre-filter which eliminates most odors. What’s particularly impressive about the Honeywell 17000 is its IntelliCheck system which allows you to monitor the status of the filters, and lets you know when it’s time to replace them. The way this works is very simple. Each filter has its own dedicated button which once pressed, activates a light which lets you know the status of the filter by blinking or shining continuously. You need to replace the HEPA filter either once a year, or once every three years depending on how much you use the purifier. Pre-filters however, need to be changed every three months. The Honeywell 17000 has three fan speeds for you to choose from, low, medium or high.
At low and medium settings, the air cleaner is extremely quiet and doesn’t get in the way of your other activities such as working, reading, watching TV, or sleeping. When set to high, it is still pretty tolerable although those who are sensitive to noise might want to use this setting when they’re out. When it comes to efficiency, the Honeywell 17000 does the its job well boasting an ACH (Air Changes per Hour) rating of 6x which means its capable of changing the air completely 6 times in one hour. This model’s CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) rating is 130/130/130, which means it’s able to filter 130 cubic feet of air per minute containing dust, smoke and pollen respectively. Despite its filtering abilities, the Honeywell 17000 needs very little power, only 80 watts when set on high which is similar to a standard light bulb. What I love most about Honeywell products is their long-standing warranty, and the QuietCare 17000 is no exception because it arrives with a 5-year warranty.
