Like so many other reviews I've read, the unit started second pull and ran fine after filling with 20oz. of 10w30. It had a bit of paint burning smell as the unit's muffler go hot. The unit is noisy of course, but not as much as I had expected. My only test so far was to plug a 700 watt microwave into one 120v outlet and an 11 amp circular saw into the other. With the microwave running, I started the saw multiple times with only he smallest dip in rpms on the generator which recovered instantly as the saw motor reached full speed....the saw ran just fine. I was very happy with that performance, so I will keep it for now and plan some more thorough tests. I will use it as primary electrical backup for my home in case of emergencies.

It took Buffalo Tools over 4 months to replace it with a rebuilt model that failed in two weeks due to faulty wiring. I asked Buffalo Tools to reimburse me for the wiring repairs and they refused because I had not gotten prior authorization. I will never purchase Buffalo Tools products again. We bought this just for that reason. Of course our power has not gone out since we bought it (figures). We did get it ready just in case. We mounted it in back of our house on 6 12 X 12 inch concrete slabs with chain and lock for security. We added oil and had my 110 lb wife star it first. It took two pulls and fired up. I tested the power output by hooking up a 5 HP air compressor. I swear it filled up the empty tank fasted than hooking up to our standard electrical power with no signs of strugle. I plan to only hook up our sump pump and rerigerator during power outage. I'm an electronic engineer and would recommend a ups power device if you plan to use a TV or computer. We lost over $600 on food and water damage durring the last outage so it will pay for itself the first time I use it. Its also great for remote power for anything useing 110v. After a few dozen engines you develop an eye for quality. To my eye this Buffalo Tools Sportsman generator displays excellent engineering and an attention to detail. In short it's very well made. The materials used appear equal to the quality seen in many Japanese and Korean built generators. Note: FedEx Shipping came 2 days late. In any event, I hope it runs as well as it's made. Switches broken off , wires missing the protective coating. Item was shipped in the original box you'd buy it in with no added protection for shipping . FedEx left this outside by my street in the snow bank in below zero temperatures. Returned it the same night to my local Walmart. After looking at the generator you can tell they're cheaply made and probably wouldn't hold up long.
