The safe has an over ride key which I wanted. Accessed by twisting off the electronic key pad. Internally there is one shelf which is adjustable. (it is notched for fire arms). The shelf supports run from the top to about 1/3 down the sides to add more shelves. The door has velcro 3 pockets. Solidly attached to door. The safe is very solid, includes bolt down kit. Customizable lock code up to 8 digits. Wish list to make 5 stars: shelf supports run down entire side so can fully customize shelf height (will add my own) Couple more shelves. (will make my own) I called the Fortress customer service about electronic lock battery install (didn't see it on inside of door at first, it is on the hinge part), very prompt answer and knowledgable. I am very happy with the safe and think over all it is great value.

It will kept my firearms and ammunition safely out of the reach of curious kids. Well built and room for about 8 long guns. Would have been better with shelves, but they were easy to add. It's not the safe's fault Walmart drops them and damages them. I opened mine in store before I bought it to make sure, I recommend you do the same. When you shop at a discount store like Walmart, these are precautions we have to take. I bought this safe on sale from Walmart for $299. I went into the store expecting to pay $397 and found it to be on clearance. Let me tell you, it's worth the $400. This safe is the perfect size for a couple of long guns and your pistol & ammo collection. It doesn't take up a large floor plan, but is deep so my pistols fit inside, in their factory tupperware cases just perfect. Along with a couple rifles, It's the perfect size for me. states, but again, that's Walmarts problem. I chose this safe over the Stack-On gun safe because it was a little lighter, and slightly deeper(which was important to me). I cut a couple pieces of plywood and made my own shelves, and for the $299 I paid, I was happy to do so. The finish isn't grade A. Meaning the powdercoat on the outside isn't perfect like your car, but it's not a $1000 safe.

The interior is nicely outfitted with basic carpeting, and unlike Stack-On, doesn't have the permanent shelf in the middle. Add that to the 10 year warranty, and we've got ourselves the best safe on the market right now. The door is even removable, which is a plus when moving a 230 lb save around. The Fortress safe even comes with elevated feet, so a pallet jack, etc can be used to move it around. I took it off the truck, unpackaged it in the driveway, and took the door off and brought it inside that way. The Electronic Lock works well, and it allows you to turn off the beeps, for near silent access. The backup keys are skeleton style keys and insert tough, but work fine. The door organizer isn't really for guns, but it works well for misc. pieces. All in all, I'm very happy with this safe so far, and I've recommended this to a friend who is going to buy one on clearance too. Usable interior dimensions are about 18widex11 deep x 51 1/2 Tall.
