Probably due to pump seal (bellows) failure. The unit had gotten wet in rain couple of times which is warned about in instructions. This is a fair price for a very portable unit. Also, you only have to put the air stones into the live-well, etc. so it takes up very little room, so more fish/bait can fit uncrowded in live-well or container you use. Generates a very good amount of air & I use it in a live-well I use a plug in & fill with lots of water because my live-well only fills up about 6" due to shallow draft of boat.
