I kept my unit in my room running 24/7 for 1 week - to no improvement. All I got was a hotter room, no reduction in allergen levels or dust (that I could perceive). I do think this would work better if there were a fan to move more of the allergens through the unit to be removed, but the emitted heat is NOT acceptable. Especially in a warm place like Hawaii.
