It smell like very strong fire retardent. I got this air purifier because I cannot stand the smell of chemicals in my home such as lamimate flooring. so why would I be able to stand the strong chemical smell of fire retardent sprayed on the box of the air purifier. This makes not sense to me why an air purifier manufacturer woud do this. What a piece of junk I am sorry to say. Don't buy this if you have any sensitivity to chemical smells.procare carpet & air duct cleaning az Yes (2) No (0)  Report Yes (2) No (0) Well and solid built but fan noise will suprise you . serumi air clean priceIt does seem to get the job done . f72 electronic air cleanerNot what I would call a nite time noise you can sleep with but will clean that air .

This has neutralized all the problems. My wife and I both have jobs that put us in contact with a lot of people and this helps kill the germs we bring home. They are ionizers meaning they use the ionization process to knock particles out of the air. Nikken air purifiers are low end HEPA filtration systems that also use ionization or PCO (photocatalytic oxidation) technology as an addition. The MicroLux air purifier is a hybrid purification system that combines HEPA and carbon filtration with active purification technologies. These charts lay out the costs and benefits of these air purifiers so you can cut through the white lies and gimmicky advertising and get a good look at what these air purifiers are really capable of doing and how much it costs to use them. Air Wellness Traveler Filter Purifier System with HEPA filtration Light Air & Nikken Air Purifiers Comparison Chart 1 Nikken and MicroLux Air Purifiers Comparison Chart 2performs very strong, limited programmability generally a very good product. The fans are strong, the ozone generation is very strong, I can't measure how strong the ionizer and bacteria/germs killer is. Leave the ionizer on for too long, and the whole room smells like an aquatic swimming pool. I'd give it 5 stars if it offered more programmability. You can only turn it on and off automatically, you cannot leave it running and then "add" the ionizer at a certain time and "remove" the ionizer at a later time. You can only power it on completely and turn it off completely at a set time. And when you unplug it and move it to another room, it loses the time all over again, it would be better if it also had an internal clock that stores the time when unplugged. Also, the display is not readable, when the unit is on the floor.
The remote doesn't show the data of the display, so you always have to bend to read what's in the display. A few things that make it hard or inconvenient to operate, but its cleaning performance is extremely strong. This "air purifier" is a piece of trash First off, even at the highest (very loud) fan setting, there is minimal air being pulled through the system. I dropped dust directly behind (i.e. less than an inch away from) the filter and none of it even moved towards the system. It all just fell straight down. A month after using this at least 12 hours a day on full blast, I found NOTHING in the pre-filter or HEPA filter. It also doesn't eliminate smells AT ALL unless you put on the O-zone - which the manual admits is bad for you and shouldn't be put on with people in the room. Still, to further test, I lit a candle for 30 minutes in a small room, blew it out, then turned on the purifier to the highest setting, the fan to the highest setting, the ionizer, and the PC filter.
I came back an hour later, and it still smelled strongly of the candle smell (only masked a bit by the O-zone).This thing doesn't purify anything. It's a big heavy box with a noisy fan in it. Supposedly the ceramic plate with the metal mesh is supposed to create ozone, that would be an odor similar to the smell after a rain shower, I bought 2 and neither one has that effect, I guess it filters the air ok but is noisy at the higher fan speeds, so much so you have to increase the volume on your tv to be able to hear what you are watching I was a bit worried about ordering this unit. I had been doing a lot of research and realized quickly that you can spend a little or a LOT!! This unit was a value and after two days ~ it does exactly what it states....smells like air after a rainstorm! Only thing that I wish was different is the ozone setting... I don't have a problem being out of the house for a few hours to run that system, but my pet....well, where is he going to go? I am happy that it states remove pets tho....because their lungs are equally important!
