I gave it to my son to put in his room instead. I love it so far it is working great. my fan just like this one I originally bought from a local wal-mart store lasted me for 11 years with no trouble. The packaging seemed refurbished or returned when we received it so this could have some reason on why the fan s*** out on me within the year. This fan works awesome. It blows cold and I love that it has a remote control. At night, I fluctuate between hold and cold and this really helps. Gave as a Christmas gift to my parents who, as most old folks do, keep their house at an unreasonable temperature for non-old people to tolerate! It's loud- but that's what I love about it. I have a roommate who works the opposite schedule as me and it completely blocks out all the sound so I can sleep. I've had one of these before! I absolutely love it!!! Bought it because my son had blocked nose at night, used it for 3 weeks and it has not improved his situation one bit as we are still having sleepless nights. The blue light is annoying, it makes my carpet wet as the water steams out around the humidifier but does not circulate round the room. Please do not buy this and waste your money and time. A real thumbs down. I turned the Ultrasonic Ioniser on at around 5 p.m. and took a look at a thermometer - at that point the air humidity in the room was 42%. After letting the Ultrasonic Ioniser doing its job for approximately 3 hours, the air humidity in the room had only risen by 2%. Most parents plump for either a Group 0 or 0+, then for a Group 1 seat for a toddler, and finally a Group 2/3 model for a four-year-old. Current thinking is that it’s safer to keep a child facing the rear of the car as long as possible and some seats enable you to do this well beyond the typical weight of 13kg (about 15mths). Seats are fixed into place using either a seatbelt or the newer ISOFix mounting- points, which are fixed to the car chassis.
ISOFix is considered safer but often involves a supporting leg that takes up a footwell. All seats must conform to basic standards but that doesn’t mean they all offer the same level of safety. Check those crash-test results. Always ask how easily the seat cover can be removed and whether it’s machine washable. Finally, don’t overlook the importance of comfort – you’ll be glad you paid a bit more for plush padding on longer journeys. Technically speaking, this refers to any pram or pushchair that enables you to attach a suitable car seat directly on to it, so that a sleeping baby can be easily transferred to a vehicle. These vary in style from those that are, essentially, a buggy, often with an optional carrycot, to pramettes, where the fabrics can be manoeuvred to convert it from a pram into a pushchair. Of the models shown here, only the Obaby comes bundled with a car seat. Each of the others does, however, restrict your choice of car seat to some degree, so consider the cost of this, along with any seat adaptors needed or, indeed, other essential accessories such as raincovers, a carrycot, or even a second seat.
The headline price is rarely the whole story. Depending on how often (and quickly) you need to fold the pushchair, it’s worth asking for a demo before you buy. Silver Cross 3D £299, silvercross.co.uk Unless stated, models include the following functions: Reception: Most monitors use the same digital technology (Dect) as cordless home-phones. Range: Audio models all achieved roughly 40m, the video units about half that distance. Thermometer: It detects air temperature near the device. Alarms: Warning sound if reception is lost, the battery is low or if the temperature changes. Pager/Parent find: Constant noise that helps to locate the handheld receiver. Graphical sound-meter: Lights on the parent unit that indicate how much noise baby is making. Intercom: Often known as talkback. Nightlight: Many models now include it on the child-unit. Traditional fold-up styles tend to be very adjustable, but most will only be suitable for children from six months to three years. They are being superseded by the second option, chairs that evolve as your child grows – even into adulthood. The third option is a pedestal design – essentially a plastic cocoon, akin to a scooped-out egg, on a support stalk. Because many people now prefer a highchair to be a feature of their kitchen, not something to be packed away between meals, the trend is towards cleaner, contemporary designs. Unlike previously gaudy fabrics, seat covers are more chic, and they feature more metal or wood, rather than plastic, in the in the overall construction.

Many models share a similar design which isn’t surprising given the stringent safety rules. The majority feature a central umbrella-style folding mechanism and collapsible sides, activated by pulling a lever and pressing four release buttons. The mattress (see mattress dimensions at the top of each review) is typically comprised of four segments padded on one side, providing protection once folded. Exceptions here are Phil & Teds – which is akin to a tent – and Baby Björn which is unique. Do you really need one? Many hotels provide a cot for free and friends or relatives tend to have them, too. But there’s no guarantee of the origin or cleanliness of a borrowed cot, so having your own provides peace of mind. Owning one will also enable you to cater for any visitors with babies.
