There really is no need to buy a Honda EU2000i (also priced around $1,000) or the brand name Yamaha, when you're getting everything both of these generators have at half the price. There is a generous 3 year warranty, their tech support is great, the manual is well written, this one allows you to burn off the gasoline in the carb so as not to gunk it up (like the Honda is prone to do) You get a manual, 400mL of no name oil, a spark plug wrench, s screwdriver, clamps to attach to a car battery. You can piggyback 2 of these together with the not included parallel cable (available at Amazon) Everything but the gasoline. Just do a 20 hour break in period (at a 50% or less load) and you'll be good to go for a long time. You can add a simple meter to keep track of the hours: Hardline Products HR-8061-2 Hour/Tachometer with adjustable input, Resettable MAX RPM and Log Book and it's very easy to install.

It is a little slow to respond to larger loads when in the auto idle mode, but does pull up easily on moderate and light loads such as lighting or small power tools. I would suggest leaving the auto idle off if your intend to start larger loads such as table saws and drill press or shop vacuums. I have only used the generator for a short time, but I am very satisfied with my purchase. When we first bought them I got the first one ready - filled the oil, gas tank & followed the startup instructions. It started up quickly, produced a lot smellier exhaust than I expected but seemed to be running fine. A week later (3 days before the event) I pulled it out to test it again.

This time it wouldn't start. I double checked, triple checked everything. After several more attempts nothing. I called the company and spoke with a friendly rep. He suggested that I open it up, pull out the spark plug and pour a tiny bit of gas in where the spark plug was. They include a bunch of tools (including a spark plug wrench.) To be honest this was way more than I wanted to do to get my brand new generator started. But I opened it up and took a look, found the spark plug but had a hard time getting the spark plug cover off. I didn't want to break anything in there so I called the company back for advice. I couldn't reach anyone this time. After several calls I left a BN message. Frustrated, I pulled out the backup generator - set it all up according to the instructions. And amazingly couldn't get it started. 20+ tries and nothing! I was getting panicked this close to the event. Luckily I found some Honda 2000iq nearby generators for rent. (They look almost the same from the outside but what a difference - They start instantly every time.)
