The Sportster kit is 100% bolt-on with no welding required. Cuts to the stock fender supports are required, but easily accomplished with a Dremel tool or angle grinder. Stainless number plates are available for '91-'03 Sportsters. Only about 1 1/2" of the fender supports is removed if you want to use the number plates (see below). Watch the installation video here.

What years/models of Harley Sportster will the kit work with? The kit is designed to work with year models 1986 - Present. There are slight differences in the '86-'03 kit and the '04-Present kit due to the changes made when the new frame and rubber mounted engines were introduced in 2004. Custom models (e.g. XL1200-C) with high rise handlebars are NOT recommended for this kit. 883 and 1200 cc models are both acceptable for conversion, but 1200 "C" or "Custom" models not recommended due to the extended handlebar risers and 21" front wheel. Does the kit work for both 883 and 1200 cc engine models? What options are available for the kit? The Cafe Racer Seat is available in two styles (see below). Rearsets are available in aluminum or anodized black. Clubman bars are available in chrome or black. Optional fairing, headlight lowering bracket, clip-ons, number plates, air cleaners, etc are also available. Options and prices can be found at the RYCA Online Store.

What's the difference between the Version 1 and Version 2 Seat? The Version 2 seat is a little smaller and low-profile than Version 1. Version 1 is made of fiberglass, with a gloss black gel coat finish. Version 2 is vacuum formed from ABS plastic. Painting is optional on the Version 1 fiberglass seat, but you will definitely want to paint Version 2. The LED tail light included with the kit works nicely with both styles. Do I need to send you any parts off the bike like the other Ryca kits? No, the Sportster kit is complete out of the box. Is documentation included in the kit?Build guides, videos, and tech support are provided. The build guides can be found in the Resources section of the website. Instructional videos are posted on our YouTube Channel. Why can't I order my kit with the parts already painted? 1. The paint is easily damaged in shipping.  2. You'll want to do some test fitting of your unpainted kit parts before final assembly. It's much easier without worrying about scratching new paint.  

3. You can have your parts painted locally for a better price than we could paint them for you.  4. Having your paint done locally allows you to see the actual color in person, color match your parts correctly, and have a custom paint job done to your specs. Other than a basic set of hand tools, an angle grinder is highly recommended for removal of the fender struts. A Dremel tool will also work, or even a hacksaw if you want to keep it super old school. But an angle grinder is ideal, allowing you to easily cut through the struts and smooth out the edges with a flapper disk afterwards.
