Channel: Air Purifiers America Added on: December 1, 2009 An overview of the Austin Air Healthmate and Healthmate Plus. This is the Austin AIr Healthmate. As you can see it's not too big of an air purifier and it comes on casters so it's really easy to move around. Now what really sets Austin Air apart is their filtration system. They use over 60 feet of medical grade HEPA material as well as 15 lbs of carbon in their filter. Now that carbon is what's used to really aide in absorbing odors and any minor VOC's you might have in your home. Now the Austin Air Healthmate Plus, it's identical in appearance. The only difference is in the filtration system. With the carbon, it's also got potassium iodide and that's really what's used to aid in absorbing major chemicals or any major VOC's you might have in your home that could come from building supplies or even cleaning agents. Now the Austin Air, it's really simple to use, all you do is plug into a standard outlet and it's got this nob here that's gonna let you set the three different fan speeds.

So if you're looking for a machine that is really gonna help in aiding against asthma irritants, allergens, that sort of thing the Healthmate could be the air purifier for you. Now if you need all of that as well as any sort of chemical absorption, definitely take a look at the Healthmate Plus air purifier. Creatas/Creatas/Getty Images Light projectors designed around liquid crystal devices, or LCDs, are bright, fast, and reliable. LCD projectors have three different LCDs that each handle one color: red, green or blue. The projector splits white light into those three colors, reflects it off the appropriate LCD, and recombines the three beams to make a bright, sharp image — unless your projector is dirty, in which case the image can be dark and blurry and will be difficult to see when you make presentations to clients and customers.

You can recover the performance of your projector by cleaning it. Some cleaning steps are simple, while others are quite a bit more complex. Recommended Maintenance Remove the air filter assembly from your projector housing. Read the instruction manual of your projector to see how to unlatch and remove the filter. Vacuum the filter, both inside and out. Airflow is important for cooling the lamp assembly and electronics, but dust inside your projector will make for a poor image. If your air filter is particularly dirty, gently rinse it with soapy water. Let it dry completely. Replace the air filter in its housing and insert the housing back into the projector body. Wipe the outer surface of the lens or lens cover with the lens brush or dry lint-free cloth. If dust and grime remain on the surface, go to the next step. Otherwise, you're done with the recommended maintenance. Dampen the clean lint-free cloth with water or isopropyl alcohol. Gently drag it across the surface of the lens or lens cover.

Be gentle, because you can scratch the glass if you rub too vigorously. More Aggressive Maintenance Open the housing to get access to the optics. You may need to remove the optical assembly. Refer to your projector's manual for hints on disassembly. Blow puffs of compressed, dry air across the surfaces of lenses and mirrors. Find the beamsplitter assembly, which will look like a glass cube with electronic assemblies held against the sides. Those electronic assemblies are the LCDs. Your projector may have more than one beamsplitter assembly. Direct puffs of dry compressed air in between the surfaces of the glass cube and the LCDs. Replace the optical assembly in the projector housing, and reattach any electronic boards you may have had to remove. Reassemble the projector housing.
