Age 18-24 25-34 35-44 45-54 55-64 65 and older Gender Male Female I got this product for my closet sized college dorm room. I ran it 24 hours non stop for a week after purchase. Checked the filter and saw that it had gone from pure white to pure black, the filter was filthy. So it works, I have had the product for 11 months now, I have operated it for 9 months non-stop on High Setting with the UV light on. (I use it for college, two semesters so far). However sadly, about 6 months into the use of the product, the purifier began to make a high screeching sound, I assumed that it just needed some oil on the gears since I had been running it 24/7. I used a bit of WD-40, worked well, stopped making sounds. The product worked fine till the 9th month (this past week 12/1/2013) where again it is making that loud screeching sound. The Oil did not help. Looking at the quality of the filter (I take care of the product, clean it according to the manual), the air filter is really dirty. I will use the protection plan to get a replacement.

Overall for the price of the air purifier vs. other purifiers and their costs for replacement filters every 2-3 months, and my needs as a college student I am happy with the purchase. My only gripe is that I only bought it a few weeks ago & paid nearly $80 for it & I see that they've dropped the price. I may go back to the store & see if I can get some of my money back....... On medium this Therapure is moving maybe five times as much air as the Honeywell. I do not have allergies etc. and I use this as a smoke scrubber in a small room. Opening the unit for cleaning is as easy as can be, that was a real shockerThe noise on medium is not really quiet but it does not irritate me at all, it runs in the background and I seldom notice it. I've been using it for about two months now and I am very pleased with this purchase.
