And turning your abode into a smart home may not b… continue readingOn this blog (or my old blog) are many article sized bits of writing that were eventually incorporated into “bookish” compilations (a total of about 5500 pages of pdfs): Some of these courses were undergrad physics courses taken part time in 2010-2013 as a non-degree student at the University of Toronto, and others were taken as part of a part time UofT M.Eng program I started in 2014. A couple of references that I feel cover this material much better than my notes are: A lot of my earlier GA notes were exploring papers that I found scattered around the web at the time.  There’s now much more available, including a number of tutorials.  A lot of my later GA notes where notes from reading Geometric Algebra for Physicists, by Chris Doran, and Anthony Lasenby.  That is a book that was too advanced for me at the time I tried to read it, so my attempt to read it required a lot of additional rumination.

These are mostly blog sized articles, but also includes the bookish compilations above. This page shows a list of episodes for the web television series Chad Vader: Day Shift Manager, created by Aaron Yonda and Matt Sloan of Blame Society Productions. The series was initially launched on Channel 101, but was cancelled after the first two episodes were released. Yonda and Sloan decided to continue the series on YouTube, as well as Blame Society Productions' independent website. It has become the signature show for Yonda and Sloan, who have since built on their success with additional shows and characters. The show stars Chad Vader, the non-canonical brother of Star Wars villain Darth Vader; Chad is visually indistinguishable from Darth, save for his selfish and petty demeanor. The show follows Chad as he interacts with the eccentric customers and co-workers at Empire Market, where he is the day shift manager. Chad has a best friend in his "apprentice", Jeremy Wickstrom, while he is often at odds with night shift manager Clint Shermer and corporate owner Margaret McCall.

Chad Vader: Day Shift Manager has been the subject of great fanfare and acclaim, winning an Official Star Wars Fan Film Award. Readers have informed us of a variety of common chimney rip offs involving professional criminals who combine information about new home buyers and local business names with a telephone promise of various chimney services such as chimney cleaning for $39.95. Homeowners attracted to this chimney deal may encounter scammers who arrive with a ladder, take a superficial look at a chimney, and claim that the chimney is unsafe, needs re-lining, or other treatment.

A clue from our photograph at left: if your "chimney repairman" doesn't even leave the ground, it's doubtful that he's a professional. But just placing a ladder against the building and "looking" is also not a professional nor thorough chimney inspection and certainly it's not a repair. [this was a 2008 price - Ed.] Quoting from the Daily Freeman, a New York newspaper article published 11 December 2010 Police Chief Phil Mattracion said Friday that the con artists, who identify themselves as being with  All Purpose Chimney Care Inc., approach homeowners and tell them that their oil company has demanded they get their chimneys cleaned. So far, Mattracion said, three property owners have been approached for a cleaning. One elderly person did pay the scam artists, but the check was later stopped by her son, Mattracion said. Mattracion said police suspect the same scam was played out in October in Darien, Connecticut. Mattracion said residents should not even discuss the matter with the con artists and call police immediately at (845) 647-4422.
