They are all infectious diseases and they are all airborne. Now, we all know that if we touch things and then touch our face we can contract bacterial and viral infections which is why we are told that washing our hands is the single most important means of preventing the spread of “germs.” And that is excellent advice unfortunately, not all diseases are spread by direct contact; some diseases are airborne. This means that you do not need to be in the immediate vicinity of a contaminated person and you don’t need to touch anything they’ve touched.   Here’s how airborne diseases work. An infected person coughs or sneezes, sending small, infected droplets into the air. Some of this infected material will land on things but a portion of it will evaporate leaving tiny (5 micrograms or smaller) dry particles which are referred to as airborne droplet nuclei.

These droplet nuclei can hang in the air for long periods of time which means that the infected person may no longer be in the vicinity when you walk through and breathe in the pathogens. If this isn’t enough to consider, infectious material can also contaminate the dust particles in the air. That is why it is so important to purify the air you breathe.   With the realization that disease can be hanging in the air, one would think that places like office buildings, airports and hospitals would have a much greater rate of disease transference. And if they didn’t have a secret weapon, that would be true. The secret they have is Genesis Air!  This revolutionary technology cleans and purifies the air using a unique, 3-step process featuring their exclusive GAP™ technology (patent pending). Genesis Air seamlessly integrates three technologies to effectively improve indoor air quality (IAQ). The first step is MERV 13 filtration.   MERV (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value) was designed by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).

It measures the efficiency of a filter. A MERV 13 filter will remove particles in the air as small as 0.3 microns.  Genesis air purifier pulls air in through the MERV 13 filter. This new high-efficiency, high capacity, low resistance particle filter captures most pollen, mold, mildew, ragweed, house dust, bacteria, pet dander and many other submicroscopic poisons, allergens and irritants. Step two is UVGI (ultraviolet germicidal irradiation) lamps. This GAP™ technology uses ultraviolet light to activate the photocatalyst, which reduces and deactivates airborne bacteria, viruses, mold, spores and fungi. Step three is photocatalysis. Using Titanium Dioxide coated media which, when activated by the Genesis Air GAP™ produces a cloud of hydroxyl radicals. Hydroxyl radicals are a natural cleansing agent found in the troposphere.  As the air passes through the hydroxyl radical cloud organic compounds are oxidized and converted into benign carbon dioxide and water vapor. Biologics in the air stream such as mold, bacteria and viruses, are rendered nonviable.

GAP™ safely and effectively neutralizes these biologics and reduces concentrations of VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds). Photocatalysis not only kills bacteria cells, mold spores, and viruses, it also decomposes the cells themselves. The titanium dioxide photocatalyst has been found to be more effective than any other antibacterial agent, because the photocatalytic reaction works even when there are cells covering the surface and while the bacteria, spores or viruses are actively propagating. Generally speaking, conversions by titanium dioxide are three times stronger than chlorine, and 1.5 times stronger than ozone.   This photocatalytic process is also very effective in the reduction and elimination of odors.
