It does make noise however in order to move air through the filter it has to blow air through the filter. The air in the in the house is smelling clearer. I don't have a dust cover on the furniture any more. The only thing that I've noticed of late is that the Honeywell motors are not as well built as it was before. I've had 4 units go out already, where as the old Honeywells seem to go on forever. I let it run overnight and by the time I got in the next day I could finally breathe freely. The unit can be a bit noisy if you don't have it on the lowest setting, but compared to rack mounted servers it is quiet. It is definitely a work-horse though. If white noise isn't too big of a concern, but dust in the air is... this is a perfect match.by Way overpriced product that works somewhat well for a single soul dwelling.

This thing doesn't perform like I expected it seems to remove large dust but in turn it will cover anything it is close to in fine white powder like dust.and if you got rough kids that climb don't even waste your time it will get broken fast, it may be suitable for larger room with plenty of clearance but as for my crowded 12x48 mobile home it is rather cumbersome. It does seem to clean the air but not as well as I thought, it won't get you out of dusting though. In my opinion with all this being said the unit is worth about 20.00. I put this unit to the test! my house is very dusty, so dusty after one hour of dusting the surface has dust back on it and you can see dust in the sunlight. But after one day of using this unit no dust on the surfaces after dusting and no dust in the air it will do large rooms and the three settings "Turbo" is loud but great if your leaving a room for a bit "Medium -Day setting" is quieter you won't notice it while watching TV or on the phone, the "Low - sleep" is almost completely quiet.
