Air quality can make a real difference to a person’s health- whether that is to allergies or asthma.

Many of us spend up to 90% of our time indoors, i.e. at home, the office, school and there is a common misperception that the air quality indoors is better that outside. Indoor air quality can actually be 2 – 100 times worse than outside.* *US Protection Agency website 2008 The Vicks HEPA Air Purifier filters out 97% of impurities with a micron size of 2 or larger.

The product works to clean the air as shown in the diagram below. The washable pre filter filters the initial and larger impurities, the Carbon, HEPA and ionizer then work to filter the remaining impurities with up to 97% effectiveness.Ionizers omit ozone and there is conflicting data as to whether this is suitable for asthma sufferers. The Vicks V-9071E has an optional ionizer so this can be utilized at your own discretion. For those with serious health problems such as chronic asthma we would recommend an air purifier with a HEPA filter of 99.9% effectiveness such as the Honeywell DA-5018E Midi Air Purifier. See all 108 customer reviews So far so good with this piece of equipment but after 2 days of operation I do have a few comments to make.It is NOT an Vicks unit it is made by a company called Kaz and recommended by Vicks. The instruction booklet gives NO INFORMATION about he kind of filter required to replace the one fitted in the unit. There is a picture of the replacement filter on the box but it is not possible to read the part number. There are replacement filters shown on the product page which look like the right one. The Crucial Air ones do appear to be the right size and as they are a twin pack for the same price as a single Honeywell one I thought I would order them and see if they are the right ones. I can confirm that 2-Pack Holmes, HoneyWell, VICKS HEPA Air Cleaner Filter; Compare To Filter Part # 16216, HRC1 & Holmes Part # HAPF30, HAPF30D;

Designed & Engineered By Crucial Air do fit this unit although like the one that came with it they are very tight.I do note that the filter change indicator which the manual says operates on total run time came on after only 3 not 6 months as it should have done and after being reset once the filter was cleaned within a day it was flashing which is not documented in the manual. Lets see what the seller has to say about that.As other reviewers have commented this unit is quite big, 13 inches wide, 9 inches deep and 6 inches high. That is big for and air filter but this is a hospital grade one with an HEPA rated filter fitted to it.Not only that the instructions say the you need to have 3 feet clear around the unit. See all 108 customer reviews (newest first) Excellent value for money product. Sleeping much better with this! Didn't realise it was for kids but still very happy :) I got it to remove the smell of the reptile I keep and with in minutes the room started to smell a lot better.

Great clear air, however a bit noisy Broke after 4 months, been using this since april and now all of a sudden the fan/motor is making a noise these air purifiers are very good , this is the 2nd one i have bought and use them around the flat , the filtration system is very good , replaceable filters or washable lasts... Solidly constructed and cheap but noisy , like sitting in an aircraft. I'm not a smoker as other reviewers seem to be : it emits a 'plasticky ' smell into the room ( yes , I did... The Air Purifier was far too big for the space I had planned to put it so have therefore returned the item. The Air Purifier was very easy to set up, instructions were clear (just used them to double check the settings). Health & Personal Care > Medication & Remedies > MedicationHoneywell Compact Air Purifier with Permanent HEPA-type Filter (HHT-011) Why The Honeywell HHT-011?Although I've been searching for a clean-air solution for my home for a while now, the real impetus came when the annual haze in 2013 exceeded the 'Hazardous' range.

With a PSI (Pollutant Standards Index) of over 300, all outdoor activities are deemed dangerous if an N95 mask is not worn. With this gloomy backdrop in mind, I set out to procure an air filter (not purifier as I realised; more on this later) with all haste. Of course, this being Singapore, all the units at every electronic/departmental/provision store were all gone by the time I got to looking, so I turned to Amazon to find a unit. The beauty of online shopping, and of shopping on Amazon in general, is that you can do copious amounts of research before deciding on which product to purchase. With Amazon, you can even read verified customer reviews. After comparing for 2 days, I finally decided on the Honeywell HHT-011 Compact unit for a few reason: I don't need a true-HEPA filter (more on this later) I need an air filter only, not an air purifier I would like the filter to be user-servicable and not have to change filter units every 'n' months I need a small unit

I wanted to buy many units, for my parents and in-laws I wanted it cheap (affordable) I wanted product with good reviews (this link sends you to the most in-depth air filters/purifiers website I have ever seen; more in-depth than normal electronics review sites even and perhaps on a par with only DPreviews for camera buffs) 'Compact' and 'HEPA-type', is this not good enough for your home?The main difference in units you can buy are these; whether they are air purifiers (using 'true' HEPA fiters) or air filters (not that stringent a criteria, and HEPA-type filters would do). HEPA stands for High-efficiency particulate air, and true HEPA air purifiers remove 99.97% of particles that have a size of 0.3 micrometres and above. Compare this to the Honeywell HHT-011, a 'HEPA-type' filter which removes particles above 2 microns in size only. However the price of HEPA-clean air is steep; units have to be properly sealed (which means the motor pushing air through has to be powerful, incurring higher electricity charges) to ensure all the air passing through the unit is filtered, replacement filters are expensive, and the HEPA air purifiers themselves can be expensive.

With all these considerations, I decided that a HEPA-type air filter unit that I can vacuum every now-and-then is good enough. Due to the right combination of low price, good reviews and fast promised delivery date, I chose the Honeywell HHT-011 from Amazon. Features of the Honeywell HHT-011Filters 99% of air pollutants down to 2 microns in size Permanent HEPA-type user-servicable filter Changes the air in a room (up to 85 sq. feet) 5x per hour Filters 99% of air pollutants down to 2 microns in sizeThe more dangerous air pollutants are below 2.5 microns in size. The Honeywell HHT-011 would help since it filters 99% of particulates down to 2 microns in size. Permanent HEPA-type user-servicable filterVacuum the filter every now-and-then. Check your country's voltageAn important piece of information;

check the voltage of your country before plugging the unit into your mains. The Honeywell HHT-011 from Amazon runs on 110V , and will not work in countries using 220V without a step-down transformer. Also, ensure you use a step-down with a rating of at last 150W. I bought (and promptly fried) one locally with a rating of only 90W, thinking that the air filter would draw no more than 60W. My goodness... how wrong could I have been... I bought, and recommend the Simran SMF-200 Deluxe 200 Watts Step Down Voltage Converter for International Travel to AC 220V/240V Countries. The 200 watts limit is more than enough for the Honeywell HHT-011. The top plate with both dials Opening the front plate (REMOVE PLASTIC BEFORE USE!)
