Hairspray, perfume, cologne it will clean the air of those contaminants. Funny story: My grandson passed gas and the auto was set and it immediately came on to clean the air. Why should you breathe bad air? My granddaughter snores and now she sleeps peacefully when I put the unit on. When I'm home I use the auto-set. The outside blue light can be shut on and off with the remote control and the unit can be turned on without it. There is also a housing in the back for the remote to keep it out of the wrong hands. Sits nicely on my coffee table and tall dresser. What you see is what you get a large table unit not meant to be put on the floor. Stainless steel and glass. On low and medium settings the unit is quiet, you can hear it on medium and high. I am glad I purchased both of my units and I know I will be happy for a long time.

We put it in the Motor Home and within two days my wife said that the air was so crisp and clean and that it is the best it has been in many years. We have decided to put it in the house to see how it does for that air system. We really like the two year filter usage and the quietness of the unit.

When you put it on automatic, it comes on and off as needed when the air turns bad. By leaving the unit on automatic, it will prolong the filter life and keep the electricity bill lower. If the unit does the same for the house, we will purchase another one. Real nice features are the remote control and three fan speeds. We are both smokers, and we use a wood burner, so there is normally a huge amount of dust on everything daily. After we started using these units, there is noticeably less dust on everything. The house does definitely smell better, so its safe to say that these units are doing what they are supposed to do. We have found them to be quiet enough on all settings, so there is no problem sleeping in the same room with them, or hearing the tv or music. I like the pleasant blue light, it works great for a night light and a calming light. They do not take up much table space.

The filters are easy to clean, just shut the unit off, open it up, pull the filters out and run a vacuum on them, then just put the unit back together and turn it back on.
