Absolute Lifesaver - VOC + HepaSize: Full-Sized TowerWell-designed, great value in a HEPA floor unitSize: Full-Sized Tower|Whispure 510 is better. Fan noise drives me batty.Very quiet on first 2 settings. Overall this is a great product. I knocked off one star for a slightly less airflow compared with the larger square unit. Also for slightly loud on the highest setting. (not major, but I wouldn't be able to sleep with it on that setting, or watch TV without upping the volume)A Great Air PurifierSize: Full-Sized Tower|So far so good, I love how it cleans the air in ...Size: Full-Sized Tower|does not do much filteringSize: Full-Sized Tower|Whirlpool makes excellent air purifiers!I received this air purifier courtesy of Amazon Vine. Last year I purchased another Whirlpool HEPA air cleaner Whirlpool Whispure Air Purifier, HEPA Air Cleaner, AP51030K which I absolutely love. It made a significant difference in dust settling on our furniture. We went from dusting two or three times a week to dusting every 7-10 days or so.
That air purifier has run 24/7 for six months flawlessly. Although I just got this APT40010R, I expect the same excellent results from this one too. This air purifier is a TRUE HEPA (if you're shopping around, check out the difference between TRUE HEPA type cleaners and others). The air purifier market is vast and riddled with confusing and often misleading advertising schemes. If you're shopping for an air purifier, then you should first consider what kind of pollutants you're trying to eliminate. ionic zephyr uv-c air purifierFor example, if you have problems with cigarette smoke, then you'll want to make sure your air purifier has the ability to eliminate fumes, VOCs, and other gases.delonghi air purifier dap130This air purifier is not as good as the AP51030K, because it has less coverage ability (200 SF VS 500 SF), and a lower CADR (CLEAN AIR DELIVERY RATE)(125 VS 315). holmes air purifier aldi
However, at this price, it's excellent for smaller rooms, such as bedrooms. This product is also ENERGY STAR qualified. Some might complain about it being noisy, but it's no noisier than a refrigerator motor. You get used to it. If it's turned off, you'll notice the house is quieter, you may even miss the "white noise" it generates. Like other Whirlpool purifiers, it has a "sleep mode" which will turn the fan speed to low for eight hours. The only negative I can say about the Whirlpool line of cleaners is the necessity to purchase replacement filters instead of being able to clean them. To be fair, however, I have not yet had to buy replacement filters for the Whirlpool cleaner that I bought six months ago. A good point: Comes with a five year warranty.Bottom line: An excellent cleaner for smaller rooms, is quiet enough not to bother most people (there will always be complainers) and it's energy efficient. One Especially Nice-to-Have Feature: This air cleaner has three speeds and also has an automatic setting.
The machine "senses" how much dust particles are in the air and adjusts the fan speed accordingly. A light turns from orange (when air is dusty) to green (when air is clean). This is really a nice feature, as you don't have to worry about changing fan speeds, and of course it saves on energy. My higher priced Whirlpool air cleaner doesn't have this feature, I wish it did!I took off one star because I would have liked the CADR to have been at least 200.Whirpool knows HEPA's, period.Reviewer Disclaimer: This was received as a Review Product for the Amazon Vine Program. This program does NOT compensate nor reward for positive reviews.**I don't know how/why, but - in my humble opinion and based on experiences with nearly a dozen different HEPA/HEPA type air purifiers - Whirlpool gets it 'right.' The APT40010R is yet another outstanding Whirlpool workhorse, a no frills HEPA air purifier that outpunches its weight and then some.To elaborate, I've tried to get rid of the stale and occasionally musty air in my office via an array of different purifiers.
The germguardian GG1000 Pluggable UV-C Air Sanitizer didn't do much of anything, nor the sleek, sensitive (re: Ionizer), but not as powerful Hoover Air Purifier with TiO2 Technology - WH10600. One quick hour of the APT40010R, and I've got the first bit of seemingly fresh air in weeks.Referenced above, there's nothing fancy about this unit. It doesn't look pretty, bells and whistles limited to some timers and a surprisingly smart 'Auto' setting which adjusts to air quality. On the latter setting, the APT40010R kicked into overdrive minutes into being set to Auto, subsequently cleaning the air like lightning.Like other Whirlpool air purifiers, it's not quiet...but also not overly noisy except on highest setting. It also has the usual suspect of a replaceable prefilter and two smaller HEPA filters. Thus, expect about $100 in replacement filter costs per year, minimum (depending on the amount of duress it's under, i.e. pets). I'm not certain whether there's a functional difference between replaceable/reusable filters...but Whirlpool isn't saving you money in this area.
Last, note there is no ionizer on this unit. If this a dealbreaker, take heed.In sum - and while not as powerful nor pricey as my beloved Whirlpool AP45030K Whispure Air Purifier, HEPA Air Cleaner, the APT40010R appears a perfect solution for smaller rooms. If you're in the market for a terrific, HEPA purifier, the APT40010R should be on the top of the list.though it will pick up on its own - didn't like the perfume I wore today and started to move ...
